Legalization of Marijuana

Today in the USA, the utilization of marijuana has been legalized in many States for medical reasons.   Meanwhile, it remains illegal in most of the country. In fact, the legalization of marijuana has stirred a lot of controversy in our society.   Many people are concerned about the negative impacts that this drug had, and will continue to have on our young people behavior by legalizing it. So the opponents of legalization of the plant believe that it will be used for smoking and getting high. Then that could be bad for the country. In contrast, the proponents of legalization of the drugs focus on his therapeutic effects, its economic advantages.   In true, cannabis is one of the most illicit drug uses in the country. However, from medical and economic standpoint the regularization of the use of marijuana could be widely positive for the country.
In reality, some searchers have found that “the medical use of marijuana has helped treating patients that are suffering of pain, nausea, vomiting, seizures, and appetite loss and so on”. (Abu-Shraie 2007), Others indicate that this drug has been used against certain diseases such as HIV, cancer and multiple sclerosis. So legalizing the use of marijuana because of its pharmaceutical proprieties is a good choice for our society for many reasons.   First of all, as a medical remedy it would be used for treating disease which will contribute to improve the quality of life of our patients and to increase the length of their lives.   Secondly, the legalization of marijuana for medicinal reasons will have an important economic impact on the nation because this industry will be profitable. As they said, ‘It could help boost our economy with taxation, create an influx of employment in our country, and save our economy billions of dollars”( Abu-Shraie 2007).   Finally, this is a good way to fight against the illicit trafficking of that drug.
