Positive Effects of Friendship

There is one thing that all three characters had in common with one and another during the book, ‘The Hunger Games’ written by the New York Times Bestselling Author, Suzanne Collins. All three characters portrayed a positive effect on Katniss Everdeen; Peeta, Rue and Cinna. Whether it was being kind and thoughtful towards her or earning Katniss sponsors and helping her while in need in the arena. They all did something amazing that truly left a positive mark on Katniss, which finally led to her winning the hunger games.
Peeta had a definite impact on Katniss in the district and also during the hunger games. To start off, Peeta saved Katniss and her family from dying of starvation. After the death of Mr.Everdeen, Katniss’ family struggled financially and it was only on rare occasions that they would have a decent meal. One night in particular, Katniss was desperate to feed her family, she sat in behind the bakery, when Peeta suddenly appeared and threw her a loaf of bread that was suppose to feed the pigs. This act helped her and her family survive and kept them from starvation. Peeta also helped Katniss look desirable during his interview with Ceasar Flickerman. Peeta confessed that he had a crush on a girl. Ceasar told him that if he wins the games and goes back home, that she would not be able to resist him, to which Peeta answers, “I don’t think it’s going to work out. Winning...won’t help in my case, because...because...she came here with me” (Collins 130). Peeta was inferring to Katniss, which made her look absolutely desirable and it also helped her win the sponsors over. As seen above, Peeta has had a positive effect on Katniss in their district and in the games.
Rue was another great example of someone who had a positive effect towards Katniss. Rue knew that she would be able to trust Katniss the moment she saw her wearing her mocking-jay pin. Rue helped Katniss while she was unconscious for days after...
