Why the U.S. Should Stay in Iraq
There is no doubt that the war in Iraq has been a very controversial topic and much has been debated on the subject. Many people believe we went into Iraq based on bad intelligence and have no right to be there. Regardless of your position the decision was made a long time ago and now the question remains should we stay or should we go.   I believe we must stay in Iraq for a number of reasons.   Of course there are some very pointed reasons on why we should not stay but overall in the long run it will be more beneficial to the U.S. and the rest of the world if we maintain a presence in Iraq and the Middle East.
The reasons we went into Iraq may not be clear to everyone after all we don’t get the intelligence reports that our leaders do and of course there are some things that we will never be able to know or understand. However having lots of military friends and a boyfriend whose serving in Iraq right now I can tell you that they see a difference in these people everyday.   Most are very thankful for our presence there and for liberating them from tyranny. One thing the U.S. must understand is that the enemies to Iraq are also enemies to the U.S. “The people of America need to understand this: the enemies of a stable Iraq are America’s enemies, and they simply do no understand the language of civilization and reason” (Fadhill, 2007). The Islamic extremists would love nothing more than to create that chaos and despair in Iraq in the U.S. Soon enough they will bring this war to American shores.   So many find it so easy to forget things like 9/11 and the USS Cole bombings and the bombings at the U.S. Embassies.   They will bring this fight to America if we let them.   Many of the countries that want to take advantage of this situation in Iraq are counting on the U.S. just pulling out and leaving Iraq to whomever is strong enough to take it again by force.
