    The industry grew in 2007 but is forecasted that growth is decelerating.
Despite nationwide figures showing 2008 as a challenging year for the commercial casino industry, state-by-state data reveal that the industry is far from monolithic. The recession hit some markets and regions harder than others, and each was affected by different circumstances. As shown in the following figure, growth is expected to remain stable and moderate between 2008 and 2012.
Gambling industry covers not only in gambling, but also related with tourist, real state, restaurant and so on. The cost of fuel, credit crisis of real state and the fall of stocks market industry make the situation of gambling industry worse than before. In addition, the aggressive expanding plans since the beginning of 2000s become the heavy burden for the gambling corporations. The good news is the gambling industry has passed the worst time with the intervention of government. The recovery time is coming in gambling industry which will be reconstructed in future years.
In light of the current economic situation in the U.S., Mintel provides the following forecast for   casino   sales through 2012. Although the tightening of consumers’ wallets may negatively impact sales in years to come, gambling can also be a form of escapism, which may draw in consumers. Additionally, the recent opening of   casinos   may provide consumers with a cheaper vacation option than other, more remote locations.
