Joe Torre
To accomplish the American Dream it has to take a great amount of hard work and courage to reach the top of the world. The American Dream is the ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available to every American, and a man named Joe Torre achieved it. Joe Torre was a great baseball player and astonishing manager, by playing on three Major League Baseball teams and managing four Major League Baseball teams and becoming one of the top managers in the league. Torre first achieved the “American Dream” at the age of 19, when he was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves (WW 1997). America admires Joe Torre by achieving the American Dream as he won many awards as a baseball player and winning World Series Championships as a manager. Joe Torre achieved the American Dream by being a Most Valuable Player in baseball and playing for 15 years; today he is one of the top managers in Major League Baseball, by coaching four teams and winning four World Series championships.
In the years 1964, 1965, and in 1966, Torre became the catcher of the “Sporting News All-Star team. Joe Torre’s 1st All-Star game was in 1964 where he was the starting catcher. He then had another tiny piece added to the American Dream, by winning his first Gold Glove award, an award for being an outstanding fielding catcher in Major League Baseball. In 1968, Torre was once again married to Dani Torre, they had a girl, Christine 12 months later, but after a 13 year marriage, Joe once again divorced his wife. As years passed, Torre was then traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1969. The Cardinals then moved him from catcher to 3rd base in 1970, where he played outstanding (WW 1997).
As the captain of the St. Louis Cardinals, Joe greatly appreciated his baseball team. He realized that “there are subtleties to winning”. Joe knew that it was very hard to win a World Series Championship, but he believed that there were other great opportunities to achieve the goal of...
