Mentoring
The reason I have a mentor is the same reason that everyone else should have one. Mentors are our living guidelines to a successful life. They show us a correct path to follow in order to succeed.   For this reason, my mentor is Sandra Mauro. Sandra inspires me to become more than I can ever aspire to be.
Sandra Mauro lives a successful and enjoyable life. She is the perfect mentor because she lives a leisure filled life. From playing with dolls and toy houses when she was 9 to snowboarding and playing with the dog presently, Sandra has always been engulfed in leisure activities. The only time in her life when leisure activities were at a low was when she got married and had children, while balancing a job. Yet even after settling down, Sandra bounced back to her original self by becoming involved in new leisure such as crafts and sewing.
Getting the chance to interview such an extraordinary person was truly a privilege and an honor. Throughout the interview, Sandra was very strong about organizing time and money.   “Since money can be an important factor in leisure, it’s important to plan it wisely and spend the time in the most beneficial way possible” Sandra said to me while talking about organization. She also commented on how making sure responsibilities are taken care of first will guarantee a better and more fun leisure experience. Interviewing Sandra was a great feat because it taught me to not only enjoy my leisure, but also be wise about how I partake in it.
The one thing that worried me about Sandra’s lifestyle was that she did not believe that leisure is important to you mental and physical health and wellbeing.   This is against my guidelines as towards a happy and prosperous lifestyle. However I did like that Sandra enjoyed her work, and considered it leisure as well as a job. Enjoying your job while being paid for it is considered by many to be an ultimate goal.
