Who doesn’t like showing off with their brand new car, wheel-squeak start from the red light, powerful sound of the exhausts that makes the windows shake? I know I do, well, I did. During the night the illegal street races dominate the streets in most big cities of the world. The solution was always there, people just never knew about it. Organized races, on special tracks, with very powerful engines, go-karting.
Every weekend a group of dedicated sportsmen to the motto “need4speed” gathers with their engines and their “cars” on a racing track just outside this city. Here they can prove who is the best and the fastest racer around in a safe and controlled environment by racing something similar to a car, something that can outrun a car on acceleration; a go-kart, and all this in a safe and controlled environment.

Statistically, 59 people will die or get an awfully injured in car accidents caused by excessive speed, this month only. Why expose yourself and others around you to this danger? A few years ago, this happened to me, I got into a car accident caused by the excessive speed that I was driving with. Doctors say I was very lucky to be alive and with no injuries at all, divine intervention some might call it, that was the day when I decided to not let speed control me but myself to control the speed. That was the day I started go-karting and abandoned racing on streets, I gave up the “opportunity” of killing myself and others around me.

This sport is dangerous, your bottom lies only a few centimeters from the ground, the engine is right next to your head and the speeds reached go over 90 miles / hour easily, depending on your engine. On a race day as many as 20 go-karts can be found on the track. For some classes you even have a gear box which gives you an even bigger control of what you can do.
