The Invisible Children’s foundation was brought together by three young Americans who went to Africa looking for an interesting story but came back with a mission. A war that has been lead by Joseph Coney in Uganda that has been putting many young children’s life’s at risk. Everyday these children are abducted, made into slaves for any convenience, brain washed to become soldiers to fight in the war and are brutally massacred. This war has been going on for over 20 years and hasn’t made the “new York times” and hasn’t really been paid much mind to. With media and press we have passed the word around worldwide about these tragic incidents and plan to end them once and for all. Invisible Children have the greatest impact on helpless children in Uganda because an education, life skills and an end to the war all in all is provided.
For the young children and teens that make it through the fearful nights that are taken in to our shelters, a new life is in their not too distant futures. Immediately they are taken into counseling and attend class. We have teachers volunteer to come and educate these children from all over the world and to experience a side of the world totally invisible to them. For promising students that take their academics more serious than most are offered a scholarship from their very own program called “Legacy Scholarship Program” and are pushed to reach for the stars. When the student passes the program the scholarship is offered to colleges and some students may even leave Africa. Support and care is in daily routine as each and every one of the staff and volunteers understand the heart aches the children have been through, so the children are nicely cared after.
Not only are the children cared for but the adults and older teens are also looked after. Much of the older generation has been abducted as children or has never left in home in fear of their life’s so are low educated. Counseling and guidance are also provided for these men and women....
