How does shakespeare use dramatic devices in act 3 scene 1 of romeo and juliet

In Act 3 scene 1 is a dramatic part. In the play,it tranforms from romance to tragedy, which the auidence had been waiting for this tipping point in the play. Since tybalt threatened romeo.

The play fits into a tragedy genre because it includes romance throughout the beggining of the play, then it suddenly turns into action and revenge.

Shakespeare creates a mood of danger in the scene because the audience know that the public place has had a fight before, is reminded of princes warning. He creates the mood by showing the fight is imminent.the atmosphere changes when mercutio mocks benvolio saying he is moody and argumentive. 'thy head is as fun of quarrels as an egg is full of meat...' shows how silly and ridiculous he is.

The audience would feel tension, when tybalt has the power and he is risking execution but his family honour is more important to him. At this point mercutio's lanuage is mockery of tybalt . "here's my fiddle stick; here's that shall make you dnce. 'zounds consort! " this shows the mockery through his lanuage and that dancing is fighting.

Shakespeare builds the tension as romeo had just been with juliet. Tybalts lanuage is very calm and polite. "well,peace be with you sir: here comes my man ". This shows he is in control. The mood changes when tybalt calls romeo a villian, which back then was a insult. Mercutio accepts the challenge because romeo wont and thinks it is considered to be a dishonor to accept insults."o calm, dishonourable , vile submission ! ". the effect of the exclamation mark is showing that he is shouting.

Mercutio asks tybalt to pull out his sword to fight, but he does not understand the gravity of the situation. Romeo is appealing to respectality, the audience is unsure whether or not tybalt and mercutio are serious. By romeo saying "gentleman, for shame..." reminds the audience of the princess warning.
