How to Stop Global Warming

During the last decades global warming concern has actually become a relevant problem. Global warming cannot be stopped but it could only be mitigated; indeed, the world leaders are actually trying to adopt measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but we could also contribute during our everyday life to achieving this common aim.

The first way by which we can give our support is changing our habits at home, modifying our behaviour towards electrical devices, the use of water and recycling. Fist of all, the use of heating and cooling systems should be reduced and moreover, they should be switched off when we are not at home. Secondly, we should use energy saving devices instead of luxury appliances which consume a greater amount of energy and are not eco-friendly. Furthermore, we have to reduce the use of water using it just when it is necessary or taking a shower instead of a bath. Recycling is another important habit we have to adopt at home, reducing the things we buy and reusing items instead of wasting them.

Another effective way to reduce our energy consumption/ carbon footprint in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is changing our habits when we travel. As a first important step, we should not use the car when it is not necessary, on the contrary we could walk, use our bicycle or we had better use public transports. Another important behaviour is car-pooling by which we can collect many people in only one car without using many other cars, so that we could reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition, another relevant measure that should be adopted is making other people aware of global warming concern and trying to involve them in the government's environmental policies. Moreover, we should contact our local authorities and our governments in order to be informed and to keep up with the latest information and measures.
