Romanticism and the nature described in “My Heart Leaps Up” VS. “Frankenstein”

The romanticism began in 1789 and ended in 1832. The industrialism gained ground, big cities were created and the middle class society replaced a society based on farming. The industrial revolution changed England completely and it changed the poets as well. They defined them selves as the opposite of the new industrial middle class society. They didn’t want to be a part of the middle class society, but placed them selves outside society as “geniuses”. They wanted to escape from society to the past or to exotic places. Nature became the centre of their writings, because it was a contrast to the industrial society. Nature wasn’t the only new subject of the art, but inspirations were found in the common people, children and upper class. It was no longer kings, heroes and princes, who were the subjects of poetry, but the democratic attitudes of the French Revolution were reflected in the art.
The romanticism wasn’t just about the escape from the industrial middle class society; it was also about the escape into feelings. William Wordsworth described good poetry as a reflection of what took place in the poets mind and imagination. There are lots of different texts, that express the nature and the escape into feelings and it is interesting to find the comparison and contrasts in them.
William Wordsworth wrote the poem “My Heart Leaps Up” on March 16 1802, where he declares his love to nature. The poem has 1 stanza and 9 lines, and in the two first lines he sends a clear message to the receiver by saying, “My heart leaps up when I behold a rainbow in the sky”. Already at this point he expresses his huge love to the nature, he loves it so much that his heart leaps. According to Wordsworth his life began when he felt the love to the nature.
