The control of the education
Students should not be in control of their own education. Being in control of something requires sufficient knowledge to deal with a process with no guidance or little help since you are ready to be in command. However, students should be engaged and involved in what they are studying, which is a completely different thing.
Choosing and learning the proper contents of any subject is a very hard task for any student, specially the young ones. The majority of teenagers don’t have the commitment and responsibility to be in charge of their own education. They are not mature enough and their lack of interest in some topics will definitely impair the complete understanding of the subject at some point; therefore, only the teacher has the necessary ability and knows exactly the methods and techniques to facilitate the acquaintance with an issue due to his experience and professional background.
Despite the fact the students are not ready to be in command, they ought to be involved and engaged in what they are studying. According to the psychologist Lev Vygotsky, students learn more by doing and experiencing rather than by observing. Consequently, asking questions and leading students to solutions rather than simply giving answers are the best way of improving their acquisition of knowledge.
The correct way to proceed in an educational environment is involving the students in the whole process of education. That doesn't mean the teacher has lost the control of the classroom. It means the students are allowed to participate actively, giving suggestions, bringing ideas and adding their previous experiences in order to enhance their comprehension and enjoyment of any subject.
