Learning Objectives

The participant will learn how to accurately spot a meltdown.
The participant will learn how to differentiate a meltdown from an angry outburst.
The participant will understand the different subdivisions of a meltdown.
The participant will understand what it feels like to experience a meltdown.
The participant will learn effective interventions for meltdowns.
The participant will learn what it is like to experience that intervention.

The sources of the information shared will be primarily from the information gathered from colleague working with the population mentioned and with adults on the Autism Spectrum of Disorders and from my own personal experiences.

The format will basically be presentation style and I will include a video of an individual going through a meltdown and I will pause and play as I explain what part of the meltdown the individual is going through.
There will be ample time for a question and answer and some interaction with the participants of the presentation.
The target audience should likely be a mixture of parents and professionals. It would be advantageous if the participant has a background in child development and some introduction to Autism or ADHD.
The target audience should understand that the speaker is on the Autism Spectrum and thus might not provide the information in a manner that the audience is familiar...
