Why Do Parents Always Tell Us What To Do?

“Live your life to the fullest” – The theme to many songs, movies and advertisements of today. But, as kids, don’t we all wonder whether this is a hollow advice? Admitted, ‘LIVING LIFE’ means to enjoy every waking moment of it by doing what pleases us. But, are we mature enough to choose what would please us in the long run? Are we experienced enough to know that what pleases us now, would it still be that pleasing in the future? I don’t think so! So, who is it that could be instrumental in helping us lead the life and enjoying it in the way we ACTUALLY want? Yeah, you guessed it. It’s the ones who gave birth and nurtured us. Our parents.
All of us have had the pleasure of being corrected, scolded and complimented by our parents for something or the other. Yes, I say PLEASURE owing to the fact that we are fortunate enough to have parents. Some aren’t as lucky as us, but that’s a discussion for another day. Now, parents are people who have passed through the varied stages of life – the uncertain little kid who is afraid to go to school, the peer pressured teen, the anxious unemployed, the worried bachelor, the married couple and finally the couple wit kids. On the contrary, we have barely moved out of the first stage of being kids with not a care in the world to the much talked about teen stage. Parents may have hell of a lot of work to do but there’s always one thing in the whole wide world they have got time for no matter what – worrying about their kids. The reason being, contrary to our belief that they’re trying to make our life miserable, it’s that they care about us and our future too much. Where we are short sighted and think only about living our life to the fullest in a short term basis, they are visionaries and want us to life our COMPLETE life to the fullest. Ever had the feeling that whenever you’re watching TV your parents are around to look over you, that whenever you’re on the computer your parents are...
