Imagine, before time itself existed, a series of dominos of countless convolutions was laid out by a being of divine intelligence and power. Each one of these dominos represents an occurrence that is set to happen in the universe. There are no such concepts as accident or mistake. Everything contributes, whether substantially or infinitesimally, to the final destination and termination of time. This is destiny: the hypothetical force, principle, or power that involuntarily predetermines future events.

The proposal of having one’s life decided is certainly a skeptic thought. The pervasive principle is that our futures are determined by our own choices; we incontrovertibly have the authority to choose the dominos we desire to push under any specified circumstance. Logically speaking, this is absolutely correct. We have the right to select our own pathways in life, but what if what our choices are our destiny?

Choice is something that is determined by two factors: character traits and circumstance. If precise character features and circumstances of an individual are fixed, there should be only one possible outcome of any quandary. If this were true, then any life could be traced back to one’s innate personality and situation at the time of birth.

After analyzing the topic further, one would find that innate personality are generated from the genes and personality of parents and that circumstance is decided by the choices made by parents prior to the time of birth. Similarly one’s parent’s lives could also be individually traced to their innate character traits and intrinsic situations.

The same concept applies to every single living being in this world. We are intertwined in to a whole configuration of incomprehensible complexity. However, the mystery remains. Is the fate of the universe already dogmatically decided? What is the point of our existence?
