"Let the line run! Make sure the line tight!” said my dad over and over again making sure I didn't lose the fish. It was a fighter giving me chances to reel it in, but then just pull until it was back to where it was at first. This one moment felt as if I was drowning in the ocean, getting a quick breathe of hope just to be crushed by the wave and realize it not over. Making this event even more unforgettable this was my first fish I have ever reeled in.
It was a beautiful summer morning at Lake Perris we had just park the car and got our stuff ready to head to the spot my dad always fished. The weather was perfect, not too cold or not too hot. The water was clear and blue enough to reflect the sun right into my eyes like a mirror. It was so peaceful I was able to hear the water crash the shore and birds cry from the other side of the lake. During the walk to my dad favorite spot he told me the story about the first time he went fishing with his dad and right then and there I knew it was a family tradition pasted down from father to son. Then we arrive to the spot.
The spot we arrive to was at the corner of the lake. There were plants sticking out of the water, rock submerge, insect flying back and forth in that certain area, and the water was especially calm at that one area no ripples or irregular waves. Also there was submerge tree branches, I knew this because I was able to see some branches sticking out of the water. Making this a great spot for fish to stay shade from the sun incase it hot and there was no current for the fish to worry about. My dad had already taught me the basic about fishing so when we arrive we could just start fishing cause the bite is always the best early in the morning. I grab my fishing rod, it was six feet tall and medium (meaning it was not too stiff and not too flexible). The rig I was using was a drop shot (meaning I would tie my hook on first and then have a foot of line extra then tie on my weight). It was the simplest...
