Nowadays, the DNA evidence is acceptable in solving the crime cases. But, what about the crime cases that took place before the DNA processing was introduced. Should the closed controversial cases be re-opened and be solved with the support of DNA processing? Will it be helpful for the victims to solve the cold cases with the genetic profiling? How will they do the genetic profiling? How will it become possible for us to reduce the crime fear?
Every law enforcement agency has some unsolved cases, all throughout the country. But now that the scientists are advancing in their DNA researches, these agencies could attend these cases and solve them. Today, investigators understand which evidence can lead to the suspect in ways previously seen only on television.
There is a lot of evidence found at the crime scene that is indistinguishable to the naked eyes most of the time, which can be the answer to solving the case such as, sexual assault, or murder. As investigators are searching for criminal clue, they notice some things that are usually not erasable. e.g. the saliva on the stamp of a stalker’s threatening letter, the perspiration on a rapist’s mask, or the skin cells shed on the ligature of a strangled child. Without the recent advancements in DNA technology, these cases might have left unanswered.
The same fundamental techniques are used for solving a left over case as for a new case, i.e. assistance among law enforcement, the crime laboratory, and the prosecutor’s office. Investigators should be alert of the surrendered profiles where DNA testing was ineffective.
DNA is the basic fundamental building block of a human genetic makeup. It appears to be in each cell of a human body. So it proves that DNA in a person’s blood is similar to the DNA in its skin cells, saliva, and other biological substances.
