What I Have Learnt - Poppy

What did I learn?                                                      
  After reading this story, I have learnt a lot from the characters.
  Poppy is a brave, optimistic and persistent little mouse. No matter facing hopeless, or challenging situations such as the mission to find the secret of the New House, you may find her never give-up attitude, never retreating but overcoming every single obstacle along the adventure.   This virtue is very worthy learning.
However, contrary to Poppy, whenever I have to face problems, I am not as determined as Poppy; often coming up with the thought of giving up.   Just a few years ago, in the Outward Bound Course, we needed to jump into the sea.   Facing this hopeless situation (at least to me), my brain went blank. I was so scared and felt like giving up. Comparing with Poppy’s situation, mine is really nothing. So I felt that I really need to learn from her, at least her courage to overcome the challenges.

On the other hand, in the story, Mr Ocax, the owl appears to be the most powerful and the strongest animal in the woods. However, inside of him he is just pretending in order to cover up his own fears.   After reading the story, I can see that Mr Ocax has no confidence in himself and is just ducking from his fears. When Mr Ocax meets another owl twice bigger than him, he is very scared - scared that he would be no longer be the one who could rule over the mice, he actually fears himself. Through the mirror reflection of this character, I have learnt that we should be true to ourselves and must accept what we have got. Sometimes having fear in something isn’t really a big thing.   It is common and nobody will look down on you.   To reflect, we should avoid repeating the mistakes that Mr Ocax had made and learn from the good side of Poppy.
