Texts are influenced by the context that the background information that enables the readers to have a greater understanding of the text.
The ‘novel lord of the Flies’ composed by William Golding reflects the society the writer lived in. Through vivid imagery, violence, chaos, and disorder are portrayed due to Golding’s experiences in war. Golding portrayed the ideas leadership, innate savagery of individuals, and abuse of power.
Power was over used in Lord of the flies as Golding portrays it in the text. Jack the dictator over used power to become the leader, as the others disagreed with jack, they separate. This is reflected with Hitler who tried to take over other countries; Golding stated “Nazism could happen everywhere”. Golding portrayed Jack abused power and was becoming into a person like Hitler. The gain of power between jack and Ralph was fought on the island, but it ultimately leads to betrayal and savagery. Golding included abuse of power to reflect to the war dictators and to portray how evil humans can become with power. At the start of the novel Ralph had the most power against jack. All have voted for Ralph to become the leader however they slowly agree with jack’s ideas so they turn on jack’s side. Golding expressed this to portray how the good can turn into evil easily.

Leadership needs confidence and courage to survive. Ralph was leader who had confidence and was civilized but as leadership went into the wrong hands situations got fatal. Jack wanted to become the leader but as some people disagreed, Jack created new tribe bringing in most of the kids. This reflected onto bad leadership dictators in World War 2, for example Hitler. Hitler was a leader of Germany as he ordered his soldiers to kill many innocent people for hateful and racist reasons. Golding included this to...
