Roanoke Story

1584, Queen Elizabeth of England asked to start a new colony in a world called the “New World” with Sir Walter Raleigh. My family and I were up for the challenges ahead. We tired so hard and so long to make was what I now called the outer banks. We got so many bad weather storms, and it was bad enough that the weather destroyed of ships too.

Our crew didn’t have much farming and hunting knowledge to get what we needed the most. The Native Americans and us were friends, but not the best. Although, they did help us out a lot.

In 1587, a guy named, John White, was governor of Roanoke. He never had the best ideas, so all of the colonist suggested that he should go back to England. On the voyage, we came across a guy named, Virginia Dare, he was the first English person to be born in the “New World”. He was walking in the sand barefoot. Half way toward us… he stopped, and yelled. “ Hi, I’m Dare”. I looked at everything around me in a uncomfortable way. There was something strange about this place. I guess he saw my facial expression when I was looking around, observing this odd place.

He wanted to take us somewhere more “safe”, he mentioned something about “the land not being safe”? So the crew and I followed our leader. We scattered, confusingly to what was being ordered by Dare. On the way to the “safe place” I found a tree where someone carved CROATOAN!

As for John White, I have never seen him again . It made me wonder if John White will ever come back and find out what happened to the lost colony of Roanoke…
