The pearl
John Steinbeck makes powerful images in the head of the reader. This book is a good piece of literature however it is too out dated and therefore the characters and their roles seem a bit dull.
Kino is another one of the dull characters. Oddly he has involvement in both black and white roles. During the start of the book he is a loving, kind, generous man that would do anything for his family but towards the end he turns into a greedy, selfish pig that takes money over family. This shown when (quote) and also when (quote). He loved his family until money came into the situation. Kino had too many dreams and goals insight so he forgot about the most important thing in his life and became too greedy and selfish. This clearly shows that Kino had a soul but not a heart.

The pearl is the main reason for the doctor performing these evil actions.
The Pearl is one of the black and white characters. It is basically a bad luck charm that destroys everything, but to others it seems to be the most important thing that anyone could own. This is shown when (quote) this signified...
