Vietnam
While the economy activity is a large component of a country’s level of development, there are other factors that determine whether a country is developed or developing. Each country is unique in the structure of its society. Most of the elements are connected because each one can depend on the other for growth. Many people in developed countries benefit form a better standard of living, whereas people in developing countries may live in poverty (Boehm 93). Vietnam is a developed country because of its high literacy rate high life expectancy, and wealth.
Most developed countries have a high literacy rate. The literacy rate of Vietnam is very high; almost 91% of the people can read and write (Vietnam 1). Because there is such a high literacy rate, the country values education. Since it is a Communist government, children must attend school, therefore leading to a smarter and more successful body of people. Countries that focus on education understand the importance of learning because this will make the country better on the whole (Magnum np). Not only does Vietnam have a high literacy rate, but also has a long life expectancy.
Most developed countries also have a long life expectancy. The life expectancy of males in Vietnam is almost 70 years, while the life expectancy for a female in Vietnam is 75 years (Vietnam 1). Since the expectancy is higher, people are able to contribute labor and resources to the government and indirectly, the economy, longer (Magnum np). Furthermore, countries that have high life expectancy can be expected to have clean water and fertile resources to keep it high. In addition to a high literacy rate and high life expectancy, Vietnam also has a great deal of wealth.
As well as high literacy and life expectancy, Vietnam is a wealthy nation. Vietnam is currently ranked as the 47th wealthiest country in the world (Vietnam 1). With more money, the government is able to pay...
