Allegory(寓言) - is a form of extended metaphor, in which objects, persons, and actions in a narrative, are equated with the meanings that lie outside the narrative itself. 一種有比喻性質的表達方式(representation),把語意(meaning)而非字義(literal)的意思表現出來。   Pun(双关语) – (play on words) is a phrase that deliberately exploits confusion between similar-sounding words for humorous or rhetorical effect. 雙關語,又稱一語雙關,是一種修辭方法,是把詞語的意思模糊化。雙關語在一句話中會有很多種意思,使同一個句子可以理解成兩種截然不同的意思。   Jargon(行话) - is terminology that relates to a specific activity, profession or group. Much like slang it develops as a kind of shorthand, to quickly express ideas that are frequently discussed between members of a group.   Hyperbole(夸张法) - is a figure of speech in which statements are exaggerated. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, and is not meant to be taken literally.   Example: I could sleep for a year. (for a long time)   Paradox as a literary device has been defined as an anomalous juxtaposition of incongruous ideas for the sake of striking exposition or unexpected insight. (似非而是)   Onomatopoeia(拟声法) - is a word or a grouping of words that imitates the sound it is describing, suggesting its source object, such as "click," "bunk", "clang," "buzz,"   Metaphor(暗喻) - is language that directly compares seemingly unrelated subjects. (States something IS something else for comparison)   Simile(明喻)- is a figure of speech used to make a comparison between two things, usually with the words “like” "than" or “as”.   Allusion(提及)- is a figure of speech that makes a reference/representation of/to a well-known person, place, event, literary work, or work of art. Alliteration(头韵) - is the repetition of the first consonant sound in a phrase. (All start with the same letter) Assonance(类似的音) - is the repetition of vowels. (E.g. wait, straight…) Irony(反话, 讽刺) - is a literary or rhetorical device, in which there is an incongruity or discordance between what a speaker or a writer says and what he or she means,...
