Compare and Contrast Literary pieces

There is a story in every written piece of work whether it is a story or a poem. Every writer catches the attention of their readers. They do this through the role of characterization, rhyme, tone, and several other things. The way the story is written we have to use our imagination to understand what the writer is trying to tell us. By using our imagination we are able to visualize what they are writing about. The story “The road not taken” by Robert Frost and “A worn path” by Eudora Welty there is a common theme. We are the ones that determine the ending in our journeys through life, no matter what that journey may be. In this paper I will compare and contrast these two literary works.
Each story has a different way to present the journey that is being told. Robert Frost told me there was a journey to be taken when he stated “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood”. He also told me which path he had chose when he stated “sorry I could not travel both”. I pictured Frost alone in his journey because of the usage of “I” multiple times. The story “A worn path” made me feel she was taking her journey alone because of the usage of “she”. I got the feeling of being lonely based on the sentence “Out of my way, all you foxes, owls, beetles, jack rabbits, coons and wild animals”. I felt the only thing she had to speak to was animals. She was taking a path uphill which used symbolism. This made me feel that she had a rough, hard life. Going uphill to get to where we need to be in life is a hard way to do it. I felt sad for this woman because of the sentences “eyes were blue with age” and “Her skin had a pattern all its own of numberless branching wrinkles”. The sentences told me she was old and I felt sorry for her having to take the hard road to her destination. Both pieces of work show that loneliness is present.
