The first club I went to was the Muslim Student Association. I knew many people that were already members and they told me to come and check it out. This organization is interesting to me because as a Muslim student in this big university, it’s nice to go back to people that you can relate to and connect to and be able to have a place to pray with fellow Muslim brothers and sisters. Any students could benefit from participating in this club because they host many events and sessions that are enjoyable and informative. During the fall semester they hold the New Student Symposium, Student Welcome Back dinner and more. The New Student Symposium is being held on Saturday at 1:15 in the Cole Field House, the Musallah (where we meet for prayer).
The second club I was interested in was the Indian Student Association (ISA). I was interested in this organization because it’s very similar to the Bangladesh Student Association, which I also plan on joining because I am Bengali. This organization allows me to enjoy the company of fellow friends who are also southern Asian. Any student could benefit from this simply for learning new facts that they never knew and becoming aware of the culture and customs of a different country. For this fall semester, the club hosted the Annual General Body meeting and will be hosting Gandhi day where they will go to DC to a soup kitchen and a Fall Charity Dinner and more. I would be able to attend the Fall Charity Dinner that will be held November 14 (tentative) in the Grand Ballroom at Stamp.
The third club that seemed interesting to me was the Colleges Against Cancer for American Cancer Society. I was interested in this because I find it important to always lend a helping a hand and an open mind to those that have had the misfortune to be diagnosed with it and set as a reminder for myself on things I should be grateful for.
