War is one of the most disturbing events that happens in our society. Many people become traumatized and mentally disturbed by the effects of war. In Timothy Findley's novel The Wars we see the psychological effects that it has on Robert Ross, which cause him to have a signifacant personality change. Such change is also present in the lives of various other characters. The wars that are fought in this book are not only on the battle field but within every character involved in the War, and its psychological effects influence many of the minor characters. There are three characters who reflected this throughout the novel: Mrs Ross, Captain Eugene Taffler and Rodwell.
