SUDDEN CHANGE
Changes can affect peoples’ lives. Changes in the environment. Changes in our country. There are lot of changes everywhere, especially in education. Having a new president means starting a new beginning in different areas and fields.
Many people were shocked about the sudden changes of the DepEd board. Many expectations scattered about the new DepEd secretary. Br. Armin Altamirano Luistro.
Br. Armin Altamirano Luistro first set eyes on the world last December 24, 1961 in Lipa, Batangas. He graduated at De La Salle University and was seated as the DepEd secretary last June 30, 2010.
There were many issues being thrown to him in his 1st year of service. Br.Luistro is the main proponent of the K+12 issue who aims to add two years in to the current 10 year basic education curriculum. Many educational parties opposed in this plan, especially the students, teachers and parents.
He is also the head of the sex-education, in which, accortding to Br. Luistro, should be included in teaching from grade 5 to 4th year high school. Numerous students protested about this. Different schools held rallies about this issue. But br. Armin stood tall and believed that they will soon understand the reason for launching such a project.
But after all the issues being thrown to him Br. Luistro stayed humble and he kept his feet on the ground. Wishing that the students, parents and teachers can accept all, he’s willing to support different educational programs that can help in the development of our country. Wanted to erase all the skepticism, he promised that he will do his very best to give the Filipinos the best education.
Hopefully, that promise is not only a simple promise but a highly noted priority on his list. To build a well-develop country that can help everyone. Making a big change that can help our fellowmen in setting their minds in different ways to help our country. Br. Armin Luistro can help in making this big change.
