Many parts of the world are losing important natural resources, such as forests, animals, or clean water. Choose one resource that is disappearing and explain why it needs to be saved. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Forests play a vital role in balancing the ecological diversity, global biogeochemical diversity, and climatic condition. It is estimated that one-third of the forests, for the last forty years, has been cleared for economic purpose. Humans know how to make use of forest resources but they do not know how to maintain it for a sustainable living. Cutting down the forests to the large extent will result in dramatic disasters.
First and foremost, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the atmosphere. Once the forests have been cleared, oxygen needed for humans and animals will also be cleared; then the atmosphere will contain a lot of harmful gases. Through respiration, people will have many problems associated with health such as difficulty in breathing, common cold, and lung cancer. In addition, carbon dioxide is responsible for global warming which traps the sun’s heat and light in the atmosphere. Thus, the temperature will get higher and melt the ice caps in Polar Regions. Sooner or later low-lying areas will be submerged under the water. Accordingly, infrastructures, farms, and coastal settlements will be damaged.
