Best Advice?

Good advice can always help a person, one way or another. The best advice I have ever received was from a basketball coach I knew when I was a little younger. I can clearly remember his words, and as I grow up his words make more and more sense. His exact words were: “If you want something, you have to do this one thing. Work. You can just be good if you want to, but if you want to be great then you have to work harder than everyone else. You have to be willing to do what others will not be willing to do. For example, a thief stealing money who is willing to kill will be much more successful than a thief who is not willing to kill. Not that killing is good, but it’s the fact that he is willing to do what others will not that puts him at a higher position.”

How is this the best advice that I’ve received? Think about it, this really does apply to almost anything you want in life. Whether you are a sports player or wanting to get straight A’s you have to work hard to earn it. The effort that you put in and how badly you want something will greatly impact your success or failure.

As you are learning more and more, you will come to realize that all of the people you learn about in school or the people that are famous have worked harder than people around them. Eminem (Rapper) is an example. His childhood was bitter and harsh. He never gave up on rapping and he always practiced writing down rhymes or thinking about them in his head. He has piles and piles of papers that he calls “ideas” where whenever he gets a chance he would just...
