Introduction

According to author Jan P.Herring Competitive analysis is a process in the production of intelligence where information is grouped together and forwarded to systems for examinations to retract relevant facts, foresee significant relationships and derive key findings and endings.
A competitive analyst’s role is to identify and gather all data regarding the competitive environment. He or she needs to find and give out highly quantitative and qualitative analysis. The analyst has to have interpersonal skills, have a sharp, creative mind and mostly be persistent.
An analyst is in charge of the competitive section of the business, it is the analysts’ responsibility to ensure that the information made available has the right and lawful information that the packaging of the product is in the correct format. It is of at most importance that the analyst gives out objective, clear and timely intelligence regarding the sale of the particular product. The analyst should on a continuous basis scan and monitor important elements in the competitive environment, mainly to gain competitive advantage and make profits within the company.
