Opinion essay: The American Dream
Throughout this century, the role of different cultures on earth has changed, and we have all become concerned that the American Dream is so important for every citizen in the US. The American Dream describes the faith that everybody has the freedom to reach his aims and can also reach fame and prosperity, if he or she works hard enough for it.
But I think it is important to remember that every US- citizen has his own dream. For the one it is the dream of freedom and equality and for the other it is the dream of a fulfilled life.
This means that the American Dream has many different interpretations. Personally I think that the biggest dream is being happy, having fair trials and other countless views. Freedom has more than one meaning. Freedom can be an allowance to express our thoughts and that everybody – it doesn´t mind black or white – has his rights.
The reason why I think that freedom is the most important view of the American Dream is because in freedom people can be happy and due to this they can reach a lot of things in life like being successful in school or in job.

A perfect example of being free is the “I have a dream” speech of Martin Luther King in 1963.   In his seventeen- minute speech he declares that he has a dream that someday the black Americans will be free and live the life as they want. What I like best in this speech is that he also wishes his little children to live one day in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I am completely in agreement with his view because people often cannot be free. They are judged so many times on account of their skin.

In addition, I don´t really know if the American Dream still exists today. I think that the growing poverty, inequality, unemployment and the missing health insurance, let people think that the American Dream is a thing of the past.

To sum up, I believe that the American Dream...
