Inference:
• The electric current has a magnetic effect, where it generates a magnetic field.
• Generating the magnetic field by using the electric current is
the idea of making the electromagnet .
The electromagnet
- It is the magnet which is made by electricity.
• Its structure :
- It is made up of a copper wire coiling (twisted) around a bar of
wrought (soft) iron connected to a battery.
* The idea of working :
- When the electric current passes through the wire, the bar of the wrought iron works as a magnet.
So : The electromagnet convert the electric energy into magnetic energy.
- To prove that magnetism can be gained by electricity.
Activity
materials:
30 cm. of an insulated copper wire - a long wrought (soft) iron nail
- a dry battery - metal paper clips (or iron filings).
