In the story “Antigone, Creon is the ruler of Thebes. Oedipus's sons,Eteocles and Polynices, had shared the rule jointly until, Polynices decided to take over the kingdom so he gathered   an army to fight his own brother and the kingdom of Thebes.The Thebans won the war, but both sons of Oedipus were killed, leaving Creon as the ruler.Creon gives Eteocles a full and honorable burial, but orders that Polynices' corpse be left to rot on the battlefield as punishment for his treason. This new law that Creon came up with terrified the people from ancient Greece.

Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus,   who is engaged to Creon’s son, Haemon, betrays the king by burying his dead brother polynices. since the Creon found out that she has   buried her brother, Creon sentenced her to be buried alive as punishment for her treason. but Creon is a very undecided man because he can’t make any decisions by himslef, he always have to have someone telling what he should do and what   he should’t do. after all the things that he has done a blind prophet called tiresias gave him an advice, the adice was to free antigone and to bury   all the dead people that are left to be eaten by animals because it will contaminate the soil. Creon finally takes the advice to bury the dead and to free antigone . However, when Creon arrives at the tomb where she was die Antigone has already hung herself rather than be buried alive. His son, Haemon, threatens him and tries to kill him but ends up taking his own life. When Creon's wife, Eurydice, is informed of Haemon's death she takes her own life and with her last breath curses Creon. In the play's final scene Creon blames himself for all the tragedies.
