Fair And Vice-Versa

It is often said that what is foul is actually fair and vice-versa. What Macbeth and Lady Macbeth said, did, and what others talked about them showed how they were opposites. In Act I of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth had different personalities; Macbeth was loyal, while Lady Macbeth was evil and manipulative. Macbeth lacked the incentive to end King Duncan due to their union and Duncan’s honoring of Macbeth’s duties. Lady Macbeth manipulated few, such as her spouse, Macbeth into dispatching Duncan by insulting his manliness.
Firstly, Macbeth showed his respect for Duncan when he talked admiringly about him. When Duncan said: “More is thy due than more than all can pay” he honored Macbeth and offered him recompense for his servitude and trust. (I.iv.24)   When Macbeth responded: “The service and loyalty I owe in doing it pays itself” he talked about how serving the king was satisfying enough. (I.iv.25-26) Ross talked about Macbeth’s heroic actions when he said: “Thy personal venture in the rebels’ fight” He talked about how Macbeth fought bravely for King Duncan and was sent by the king to thank Macbeth for his hardships and victory. (I.i.v.40) this shows how Macbeth fought bravely for Duncan, and showed his loyalty by humbly responding to his rewards.
On the other hand, Lady Macbeth showed her evil and manipulative ways when she convinced others to have a change of heart. After Lady Macbeth perused Macbeth’s letter, she said she would: “Chastise with the valor of my tongue” which showed how she planned to insult Macbeth’s manliness to manipulate him into initiating his foul plans to become king. (I.v.30) Lady Macbeth asked spirits to fill her soul with evil: “And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty.” Her eagerness to be full of cruelty showed her darkest side.
