The song Unwritten was sung by Natasha Bedingfield. In this song, a book symbolises the singer’s life, and the fresh creation of start to it. I chose this song as I feel it relates not only to me, or to the singer, but to the whole of today’s society which we live in. The song is based on writing a book, about how what you’ve already written cannot be altered and how tomorrow you will have to wait to see what to write, about how at the moment whatever you are choosing to happen is making your book.
My favourite line; “I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined.” Is a favourite because it says how no matter how hard people try, no one will be able to read your thoughts, change what you believe in and change who you are. The blank page that she keeps staring at is a symbolisation of her future, where right now, she cannot predict what will happen.
“Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate...’ This line interprets how throughout life, everyone is gonna have a bad experience, but we cannot let that define how we write our stories. We have to let go of the bad, move on, and focus on making other experiences better.

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Every single person has something they want to achieve in life, something they want so desperately to acquire. By living your life, making your choices, the song says that you can catch this.
It’s your life, and your choices and decisions will define how it is going to be lived. You’ve got to experience everything for yourselves, let no one change what you feel is right. Feel the rain on your skin! Don’t let anyone else take your shine, your happiness. Live life...
