Children spend more and more time on watching TV has become one of the hottest topics today which is discussed not only by education experts but also by ordinary people. More time on watching TV results in both positive and negative impact on children. It helps children to broaden their horizon and deepen their understanding of the world. On the other hand, too much sex and violence displayed in TV may be harmful for them.

Watching TV allows children to get more information in limited time, which is beneficial for their growth. They can watch NBA in the morning, and find an introduction of Pyramid in the afternoon. However, we should emphasize the negative impact if children spend too much time on watching TV without control. There is a variety of programs in TV, some of which are not suitable for them. If they watch too many such programs, especially some with sex and violence, it may results in youth crime.

Measures should be taken by the parents to combat this situation. On one hand, the parents should pay more time to accompany with their children, which could reduce the time of children’s watching TV. For example, in the weekend the parents could take their children outside and let them enjoy the outing. Furthermore, the programs should be selected before children’s watching, which could help children’s growth and avoid the negative impact.

In short, although watching TV could let children to get more information which could not be learnt in school, the time consumed in watching TV and the programs to be watched should be controlled.
