The novel Night highlights all the hardships that the Jewish people faced during World War Two.
Hardships mean any difficulty that someone experiences in their life.
In Night the Jewish people faced separation from their loved one, extremely difficult working conditions and even starvation. These people suffered such hardships because they were Jewish. This means that they were a part of a particular religion and followed particular beliefs. This led to what we know as the Holocaust which happened in the years 1941 to 1945.

The Jewish people were separated from their family and friends on their arrival to Auschwitz. When they arrived at Auschwitz the Nazi’s separated the females from the males. That is when Elie and his father we parted from their mother, wife, sisters and daughters. Eight words spoken quietly, indifferently, without emotion, eight simple short words. Yet that was the moment that I left my mother. This quote shows that the Jewish people were separated from the family and friends on their arrival to Auschwitz. The Jewish people lost all there family and friends when they arrived at Auschwitz. The family and friends were separated on arrival and never were to be seen again.

In Auschwitz the Jewish people faced very difficult working condition whether it was the people or the intensity of the work. The Jewish people would have to work unless they were sick or unable to work for any reason. If they were sick they would just be left to die as they were no good to the Nazi’s. If they were unable to work for any other reason they would have been gassed. Some of the females would have been able to work.
