1.0 Abstract

2.0 Introduction

Apple was first established in California in 1977 with humble beginnings, in the development and production of personal computers.   With the hand built Apple 1, soon after progressing onto the Apple 2, the initial success instantly generated more millionaires than any other business in history, when the company went public.   During the late 1980s through till the late 90s Apple declined through failed attempts at other consumer markets such as digital cameras, speakers and video consoles.   With the introduction of the stylish iMac in 1998, Apple reclaimed its profitability and finally branched successfully into other sectors with the arrival of the iPod which was released in 2001 and has dominated the industry ever since.
The product range that Apple currently distributes, vary in devices from mobile communication such as the iPhone, to personal computers like the Mac.   In addition the company also designs and creates its own software.   The range of products is listed below:-
  * iPhone:   A device which is a combination of a mobile phone and an iPod touch which incorporates the internet, all in a single handheld product.  

  * iPad: An interactive device using the company’s multi-touch technology, for browsing the web, reading, viewing photos, watching videos and listening to music.  

  * Mac: The personal computer that the company offers to the public, in the form of a desktop and laptop.   These both use OS X operating system and embody iLife which is software used in the creation of management of digital photography, music, movies and websites.

  * iPod: A portable digital music device that uses iTunes in the management of digital music.
