  Talking is a girl's favorite hobby. But have we ever wondered what petty things we talk about on a daily basis. The answer to that is many. How many times have we not gossiped or chattered about something idle. And how many of us have not passed a comment about a completely unrelated third person.
  When we gossip it is bound to bring errors. Or perhaps unintentionally we bring variations to things which causes rumors to spread and havoc to break. So it is better to refrain from talking about others behind their back because this habit gives rise to back-bitting and suspicion. And then it becomes so common that while talking to friends and family we don't even realize that we are doing it.
  Back-bitting means criticizing someone behind their back or discussing things about them that they would not want others to know even if true. So in order to preserve human dignity and respect we should not engage in such a frivolous act.

 Allah(SWT) says in the Qur'an:
"O who you believe! Avoid most of the suspicion, for surely suspicion in some cases is a sin, and do not spy nor let some of you backbite others.Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? But you abhor it; and be careful of your (duty to)Allah, surely Allah is oft returning, most merciful".

  Have we ever wondered what we may feel like when we hear someone gossiping or spreading rumors about us. I'm sure we all would be disgusted with the act.

  As the Spanish say:
"Whoever gossips to you will gossip about you"

Or as Will Roger goes on to say:
"The only time people dislike gossip is when you gossip about them".
