“Christians should not have sex before marriage” Do you agree?
The majority of Christians believe that sexual relationships before marriage is wrong, some as far as sin. The Bible teaches sexual immorality and adultery (which includes sex before marriage) is sinful “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality” They believe that the best place for sexual relationships is within marriage, casual sex shows disrespect and a lack of responsibility “He who sins sexually sins against his own body”, Sexual relationships should be in a loving relations ship and love is patient. Some also believe that as it desecrates the body it shows disrespect to God “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and God’s spirit lives within you” so a lot of Christians are very strict about premarital procreation and will not have sex before marriage.
Many Christians chose not to take the Bible so literally and agree that if in a committed and loving relationship that premarital sex is acceptable- “Love and do as you will”. Due to social changes, marriage often happens later in life which makes it unrealistic to wait for a sexual relationship, or many just feel there is no need to be married. Many couples stay together for long amounts of time, sometimes their lives but just choose not to be married, after all what really changes in marriage? If the commitment has always been there then what does a document do to make if acceptable? Some Christians also see procreation as a spiritual, physical and emotional connection and argue; would God be against an act of such perfect love?
So I believe that Christians should have the choice to have sex before marriage. If an individual is comfortable and in a loving and committed relationship and don’t feel a need for marriage then it should be their decision.
