Industry Background

Sri Lanka known as the pearl of Indian Ocean and consist of different types of traditional beliefs, which is also known as cleanest country in south Asia when compare with other countries. It has high potential of growth in different industries with the rapid growth in recent past. One of the massive growing industries is tourist and hotel industry.

Sri Lanka tourist and hotel industry is currently in a development stage after the severe war. Most of tourist likes to explore various parts of the island as they need to experience the different cultural activities. During the time of war, most of the tourists and investors reluctant to invest their time and money as they thought Sri Lanka will not have a good future even though there were many resources. But now after winning the war, there are many investors who have more attraction towards to Sri Lank tourist and hotel industry.

Analyzing last few years, from 2010 last quarter country had massive growth in the industry. Currently the main issue country is facing lack of accommodation (minimum hotels with minimum rooms) and the low standards of the hotels. Therefore all stakeholders are now at a process of developing each and every area in the country. Also Sri Lank is promoting east and north area to attract more tourists.

Tourist board in Sri lank has planned some of the projects having collaboration with different parties by identifying the resources of the country to serve different types of tourist with different expectation. Early days, Sri Lanka was perceived as beach destination for most of the tourist. But now gradually it’s changing to various sectors with the rapid growth. Sri Lanka has more opportunities and many things to offer. As an example, to experience different cultural activities.

There is a demand for greenery hotels in the country since everyone thinks about the eco friendly development. Also Sri Lanka takes their every possible...
