Odd Thomas is a novel by American writer Dean Koontz. Odd Thomas is twenty years old boy. He has a friend Oswald Boone and this friend persuaded him to write memoir. Funny thing about Ozzie is his cat Terrible Chester which claims to be fifty-eight years old and it will outlife all of them ( In a novel, we find out that Odd really loves his Granny Sugar. Granny was an alcoholic, a gambler, and liked to drive fast. Odd has very unusual name and his mother claims that he got it from his uncle who is Czechoslovakian. He has a girlfriend Stormy Llewellyn and he believe that they are soul mates. He lives in small town, Pico Mundo, in apartment above garage of Mrs. Sanchez. Rosalia Sanchez is very good cook and unfortunately she has very hard life. Odd works in Pico Mundo Grill and he is satisfied with his job.



Odd Thomas is approached by the ghost of a young girl who is brutally raped and murdered. And in this moment we find out that Odd has unique ability to understand and see the dead. This dead young girl led Odd to her killer, a boy named Harlo Landerson. Odd went after him, they struggle and burst into the house. Wyatt Porter, chief of the Pico Mundo Police Department, helped Odd catch the killer.



Few people know about Odd secret because he want anonymity, a simple and quiet life. One of them is Terri Stambaugh, his culinary mentor, boss and friend. Terri is obsessed with rock´n´roll god, Elvis Presley.



On the job Odd meets a suspicious man followed by bodachs, shadow creatures who appear only during times of death and disaster. Odd gave this man a nickname "Fungus Man“. Odd is convinced that this man is connected to some terrible catastrophe that is about to occur.
