“Speech”

Specific Purpose: To entertain my audience and accept the 2012 Musician of the Year Award from Mr. Miner.
Central Idea: Three important people, my Dad, Mike Curatto, and Mr. Miner have shaped my professional life as I accept the Musician of the Year Award.
Introduction
I. I would like to start off by saying thank you to Mr. Miner, my friends, my girl friend, my drum teacher Mike Curatto, and lastly my parents for supporting me through my musical journey through out high school as I receive the 2012 Musician of the Year Award.
A. Without Your help and support I could not have accomplished as much as I did in my four years in high school.
(Transition: The people who have been with me for years have been a great support system and have served as mentors to me.)
Body
I. I have been fortunate enough to have a talent that not a lot of people carry with them. A. When I was three my Dad noticed that I would bang the table to the rhythm of the music.
                1.As I became bigger I moved from the table to my Mom’s pots and pans.
B. When I turned 4 years old I received my first junior drum set that was purchased at Toys R Us.
1. My parents saw that I was serious about playing drums, so they bought me a real junior set that was not cheaply made.
2. I played that drum kit until I was in fourth grade and I got my first full size drum set.
C. The emotions I experienced as the big boxes came into my house were amazing.
1. I played everywhere you can think of with it.
a. Over a year ago I recently let it go and purchased a 1967 Ludwig Green Sparkle drum set.
II. Along with my parents buying me the necessary equipment and always supporting me, I have had a wonderful drum teacher, Mike Curatto
  A. I have been studying with him since I was eleven.
  1. He is responsible for making me the musician I am today.
  a. Without his help and guidance I truly believe I would not be here receiving this...
