1. What is meant by diversity?

Diversity refers to the fact that we are all different. Diversity recognises that though people have things in common with each other, they are also different and unique in many ways.  Some of us are male, some female, some tall, some short, some dark skinned, some light skinned. We come from different cultural backgrounds, different faiths, and different family groupings. And we have different learning styles, different personalities, etc. Diversity is about recognising and valuing those differences.

In my community we have a great variation of people. The community I live is all sorts of people, from young 18 years old up to them in their late 60’s. They all come from different ethnic background which means they all have different believes, lifestyles and social and cultural identities as well. There are some workers, students. Some people are single, others married or divorced, some have children. In the area there is also a difference in social standing with some middle and working classes.
There are a range of interests within my community from sports clubs to various music/...
