During the semester break, my uncle took me for a holiday in Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah. It is one of the refion's oldest city and has a strong historical background . My uncle decided to take me around the city to help increase my general knowledge and love for my country.

  Our first stop was the Balai Besar. It was built in1735 by the 19th Sultan of Kedah for installation ceremonies , official gatherings, and state councils.

  Next, we visited the majestic, three-tiered octagonal tower called Balai Nobat. It houses all the royal musical instruments such as the serunai, nafiri, gendang, gong, and other instrument that produce the haunting sounds of the Nobat music.
   
    For lunch, my uncle and I stopped for Nasi Kandar. Kedah is the rice bowl of Malaysia and rice is a staple food which is available at all times in the country. After the delicious meal, we continued our journey to discover more fabulous places.

  We went to Muzium which was originally a palace built during the reign of Sultan. Our nation first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman, who is lovingly called "bapa kemerdekaan" was born adjacent to this palace on8th February 1903 and grew up in this palace with his father.
   
    By evening , I was already tired, but my uncle insisted that we should go to a few more places before heading home. We went to visit the home of Malaysia's fourth Orime Minister in kampung sober ang perk. He was born on10th July 1925, and the historical place still stands as a part of the heritage of the country.

    As we drove to the next destination, weasel by an imposing structure. It was a Buddhist shrine with architectural styles from Thailand and china. It looked very artistic and majestic-an awesome sight to passers-by.
   
    Our final destination was the Kedah art callers. It holds a wonderful collection of handicrafts, musical instrument , paintings, and antiques. We spent an hour learning about the history of the region before...
