Every business in the world looks for different strategies that will help them improve and raise more profits. This has become the ultimate goal in any organisation. For this to happen, there are some analyses that need to be done to arrange the most useful tools to achieve the company’s objectives. These procedures can be used to study the different strengths, risks or opportunities in externally and internally in each organization. (Samson D. and Daft R.L). Abercrombie & Fitch is one of these organizations. They go for the looks, but risk discrimination by doing so. (Greenhouse S. July 2003) This company was established in 1892 and is considered as a luxury sporting good retailer with conservative tastes. It is usually known as a company who only hires good-looking people. The analysis evaluates the external environment factors, which potentially affect A&F’s business situation and management’s decisions regarding to its long-term direction, objective, strategy and business model. (The New York Times, March 2012) Managerial ethics are generally not applied in this business, which makes it a strong weakness. Ethics is the code of moral principles and values that governs the behaviors of a person or group with respect to what is right or wrong. They set standards for what is good or bad in decision-making and conduct. They deal with internal values that are a part of corporate culture and shapes decisions concerning social responsibility with respect to the external environment. Abercrombie & Fitch risks it all by hiring only good looking people, which is known as their most famous marketing strategy. However, by doing so, they risk all types of discrimination. 'If you're hiring by looks, then you can run into problems of race discrimination, national origin discrimination, gender discrimination, age discrimination and even disability discrimination,'' stated the director of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Olophius Perry.
