Tranistion from High School to College

The transition from high school to college can be a difficult one. Both my social and academic life became remarkably different from high school. Most students enter college expecting everything to be the same as it was in high school. Majority of the students believe college is high school all over again, when in reality college comes with more freedom, responsibility, and stress. Once I entered college I quickly realized how different college is. My money got a lot tighter, my workload got a lot heavier and my social life. College is more expensive, academically more challenging and offers a more social environment than high school.
First off College is more expensive, academically more challenging and offers a more social environment than high school. For example anyone who attends college must pay a fee; whereas high school is completely free. College tuition can start anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 a semester students have the ability to choose to pay out of pocket or financial aid. On the other hand high school has an advantage, because the government funds all high school expenses. For instance all your classes, books and clubs are paid for by tax payers. On top of tuition, college students also have residency to worry about. Whether they choose to live on campus or in apartment it’s still going to cost a lot more. For one thing rental cost for an apartment can range from $450 to $650 a month. At most college’s residency fees are roughly around $2,000 per semester. Let alone, high school students have it a lot easier. They have no living expenses because majority of high school students live at home with their parents for free. In contrast, college is also more expensive than high school because of learning materials. In college students must buy or rent textbooks for each course.
