Method: First, I will use an implement to cut out cylindrical pieces of potato. Then I will place them into beakers filled with salt solutions of varying concentrations . Then, I will take them out, remove the excess water with a paper towel, and weigh them before calculating the difference in mass. This will be done 5 times in solutions of concentrations: 0M, 0.1M, 0.2M, 0.3M, 0.4M, 0.5M, 0.6M.
Results and Data:
Potato | #1 0.1M | #2 0.2M |
Weight before experiment | 6.549 | 5.705 |
Weight at 14:00 10.08 | 6.609 | 4.55 |
Weight at 7:51 10.09 | 6.727 | 4.544 |
Weight at 11.58 10.09 | 6.759 | 4.491 |
Potato | #3 0.3M | #4 0.4M |
Weight before experiment | 6.684 | 6.43 |
Weight at 14:00 10.08 | 6.475 | 6.131 |
Weight at 7:51 10.09 | 5.634 | 4.876 |
Weight at 11.58 10.09 | 5.571 | 4.847 |
Potato | #5 0.5M | #6 0.6M |
Weight before experiment | 6.077 | 6.057 |
Weight at 14:00 10.08 | 5.658 | 5.982 |
Weight at 7:51 10.09 | 4.574 | 4.657 |
Weight at 11.58 10.09 | 4.481 | 4.536 |
From the graph that shows above, we observed that the potato cell concentration is between 0.1M and 0.2M.
Analysis:

We thought the potato cell concentration is between 0.1M and 0.2M after the observation at 14:00 10.08 because the solution concentrations of the two potatoes that the weight change is similar to zero were between 0.1M and 0.2M so we considered the potato cell concentration is between 0.1M and 0.2M. We observed it again on 7:51 10.09, and we thought it was true. From our final observation, our observation was true.
