I always take the initiative to care about the society. In the volunteer work of the “Care for Community” project, I have discovered that urban design is of paramount importance to our life since the assortment of practicability and external designs are able to raise people’s standard of living. Our group made proposal to improve facilities in our community .In the process, we have to think of diversified approaches to satisfy different types of users. Also, environmental conversion and feasibility cannot be left aside. For example, I observed that some metallic chairs were not properly placed because they were not suitable for use during hot summers with no shelters on top. It makes waste of the areas as no one is willing to sit there. Thus, I channeled our ideas to the office and provided suggestions for improvement.
  I have a lively character and I enjoy getting along with others. I got an opportunity to serve the community in a summer internship program at the Wetland Park. I was trained to lead guided tours to promote environmental protection. My social skills were enhanced and I become more analytical and aware of others’ needs, which will greatly contribute to my studies at university. The environment has stirred up my inspiration of constructing some “green” designs and I think architecture can certainly play an essential role on greening the city.
  At “Cultural Services Volunteers Scheme”. I have acquired lots of basic knowledge about art and culture, and discovered people’s perception of life and value judgment through their art works. The activity gave me a chance to paint walls in orphanages with volunteers from different cultural backgrounds. In view of different backgrounds, proper communication was essential to ensure smooth collaboration.
