Priority

Considering the four-year high school students’ performance in universities or colleges, an argument that is about whether students should have a fifth year in high school has been debating now. Standing on the objective and reflective stance, I prefer to have the fifth study year in high school. As my point of view, less anxiety, better understanding of knowledge and gaining maturity will lead a student choose an extended year to study in high school.

To begin with, an extended school year will provide high school students a less tense study. The extra year could spread out their workload and they will be allowed to have more leeway. Their time for preparing SAT test and AP test will be moderate and acceptable. Instead of doing busy preparation all the time during junior and senior years, they will have more opportunities to relax and enough time to give an outstanding resume. They won’t be forced to do schoolwork constantly and repeat this tiring cycle: sleep, breakfast, schoolwork, lunch, schoolwork, dinner, and homework, sleep.   In addition, the study has shown that people get a relatively good outcome when working in a less tense atmosphere. Therefore a fifth year for high school students is terribly necessary.

In the next place, there is no doubt in my mind that students will get a better understanding for learning materials.   For instance, some of the students their learning style is understand things by doing some specific things, absolutely they a period of time to do those things. Consequently, a longer study time will be more suited for them. The real survey result shows that four-year system students performed obviously worse than five-year system students in grades. Moreover, get a better understanding of knowledge will lead a long-life benefit. It can not only help you in university’s study but also assist you in your career life.
